The Future of Digital Platforms (and every industry!)

I recently published a piece outlining the various directions that the landscape for digital platforms (the Facebooks, the Googles, the Amazons and other more specialized ecosystems) could go over the next ten years.

While most will assume the current leaders will keep "eating the world," I point to some forces that have been brewing or that are more recently emerging that could change the trajectory from this official future. While technology like blockchain might be an enabler of this, it's far from the full story. Understanding what data-driven platforms can and can not do, and what we want from them as innovators and leaders of ecosystems, provides a clue as to how most industries might organize, given the rapid digitalization of everything and the blurring of physical and digital worlds.
